As part of Rearo’s on going supplier relations and our desire to improve on our own best practices, a six man Rearo delegation recently spent a day at Formica’s manufacturing plant in North Shields.
Mark Gordon, Rearo’s Production Manager comments: “We were there to hear and see about their recent 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) and continuous improvement programmes, and to see the benefits it brought to their working environment.”
Formica, who have been producing high pressure laminates for over a century, and are now owned by the New Zealand based Company Fletcher Building, are leaders in their field and have had a long standing working relationship with Rearo.
The visit also included an interesting tour of the full facility, viewing some of the current major refurbishment and hearing about expansion plans. The Rearo team were looked after by Tony Monks and Val Chambers of Formica Group, who passed on their experiences and knowledge, through demonstration, explanation and even a few tests!
