AW17 TRENDS

When it comes to aesthetic, all creative/ design industries feed off one another for both inspiration and motivation. As highlighted by fashion forecasters WGSN, fashion and interiors walk hand in hand -the connection point being textiles. As we are all aware textiles are a very dominant feature within interior design. So in terms of trending features where else is better to explore AW17s key trends?

From our research, what would we identify as this seasons key colours? Deep purples with hints of vibrancy and pastels, think rich tones and colours which are able to stand alone and cause impact no matter how dominant their hue. Browns, purples, greens, pinks, blues and greys are all present within the new season selection. To keep on trend with these tones however, without breaking the bank, we would suggest alternatively to adopt accessories in these shades to complement your pre-existing bathroom or kitchen design rather than opting for a completely new refurbishment.

Your rooms base colours can be influential on your choices however. Selections such as white, black and grey all provide a very free reign in terms of accessory choices whilst something such as a pop colour red or blue can be restrictive.

So where are we going this season in terms of accessories and statement pieces…

Terracotta

The raw, clay-like colour brings a sense of warmth to the new winter season – its natural effects complimentary to a variety of colours. A teaming of black shades with terracotta, in particular a gloss versus matt/ textured design can be very effective and contemporary. My suggestion would be to begin with towelling and build on extra components from there within your bathroom.

RATTAN/ STATEMENT CHAIRS

Perfect for bringing character in to your kitchen, opt for quirky or vintage – a modern aero dynamic plastic design or a 70s favourite peacock chair. Side note that Rattan has appeared in many collections this year so it may be worth the investment! You don't even have to buy new, high quality second hand pieces can be found easily on the likes of eBay.

HANDMADE/ FOLK DESIGNS

Another key trend for this season has came in the form of the handmade aesthetic. Not to worry though, for those of you not of a creative or crafty mindset these style of designs can be easily bought in many high street stores without you having to take a trip to the pottery shed. Our top picks are naturally shaped serving dishes for the kitchen and also Scandinavian folk embroidery for the bathroom - giving a rural feel.
