Rearo Investigates Irish Forestry

The company went out to Ireland to visit the forests that are managed by one of their largest suppliers

Rearo have recently started a policy of regularly visiting all our main suppliers to audit their quality systems and environmental credentials to ensure they are suitable partners for the Rearo organisation.

This week Managing Director Graham Mercer and General Manager David Graham went to Ireland accompanied by David Landsburgh, sales manager of local distributers Rowan Timber to visit Medite's plant in Ireland.

Medite's plant is located in Clonmel in County Tipperary and is one of the largest MDF manufacturers in Europe. Medite over the years have become a major supplier to Rearo. In November, 2006 Medite was aquired by Coillite the Irish Forestry Management and Timber Company, which owns and manages many of the forests and timber companies that supply raw material to the vast MDF plant at Clonmel.

When Graham Mercer questioned Pat Beardmore, Medite's Technical and Logistics Manager at the Clonmel plant about Medite's environmental qualities, Pat was happy to explain :-

"Medite MDF is an environmentally friendly product. It is produced from
sustainable supplies of softwoods from FSC-certified forests. These
include recovered wood residues and by-products from forestry and the
saw milling industry. Wood based panels have also got the added
advantage of being a sustainable and renewable building material."
